"I have the 7;/8 long spey line paired with a B&W 16’6” 6/7. It is an excellent combination and an absolute Loy to cast. The only mistake Rio made with this line is the overall length is too short. Instead of 110 ft it should be 130’ or more."

Rio Long Head spey - great line

"If you're in the market for a longer line (mid to upper 60 ft range), RIO long head spey is a great option. I'm using an 8/9 long head spey on a Burkheimer 15'2" 8 weight. I typically fish unweighted flies on floating to lighter sinking 14' poly leaders. No need to cut back the line to turnover light sinking poly leaders or tips. Another winner from Simon and RIO."

RIO Long Line Fishing

"I've used many brands of Mid and Long Spey lines and these new Rio long heads are working for me ! I prefer this very line for use ideally with an all Mono leader with an unweighted fly on my tippet. They, the Long Heads will also carry the RIO Clear Versi Leader 20 pound 10 foot with 4 feet of tippet and a lightly weighted fly very well depending on your technique casting. Myself I'm using this particular line on a 13' 9" Gaelforce Destination 8/9 rod and it is great. If the long head seems too long for your rod, I use the RIO Mid Head at 56' on both my Sage One 13' 6" and the 14' X in #8 rods and it's a beautiful thing. Weight wise I like the 590 grain on those Sage rods."
