Overview

The perfect line for chasing GT's with low-stretch, ultra-slick performance

RIO's Elite GT (Giant Trevally) line has been specifically designed for the demanding conditions faced by the hardcore GT angler. Now featuring an integrated Kevlar Loop for maximum abrasion protection against coral and sharp edges. Each line is built on RIO's low-memory DirectCore that is extremely easy to anneal (stretch) and lies perfectly straight on the water, yet retains the stiffness needed to cast in hot conditions. In addition, this line is built with SlickCast, creating the slickest, most durable coating on the market—producing the least amount of friction ever measured in a fly line.

The only GT Line you need. Period.

"Have fished this line in the Seychelles along with several other friends. The only line the guides did NOT cut the factory loops off and replace. Bombproof. Easy to shoot. Holds up to tough environments. I admit I am usually an SA guy but there is no comparison or comparable line available today for aggressive fish and challenging environments. Have used for Tarpon in Cuba as well and this line just checks every box in every environment."

Did not fish with it

"Did not fish with it yet but test cast few times. Nice, VERY powerfull line wchih should do the job wit big flies and windy condition. Nothing finesse but it should not be finesse! "Ugly" line for ugly flies and fishing conditions."

Upgrading from Tarpon to GT

"Rio Elite GT is a fantastic line in every aspect. Great slick finish casts smoothly with less effort required. Aggressive taper loads quickly and maintains a tight loop casting into the wind. Love the heavy duty reinforced loop connections. Lots of weight-forward power for casting large bulky flies too. I am sp impressed with how this line is designed and how it performs on the water I am upgrading all my "Tarpon" reels to this GT line"

I liked the looks of

"I liked the looks of it, especially the Kevlar loop (which I reinforced anyway with 7-turn nail knots with 12 # mono), but it’s too early to rate it’s performance until I deploy the line at Farquhar in 60 days."

William T. (5/5)

Great Line!

"Awesome line. Throws big and I mean big flies with no issue. 8/0 Brush flies not a problem. Great line."

Ben J. (5/5)

Outstanding

"This line has so much going for it! Reinforced loop, strong core - So excited to battle some GTs with it!"

Kyle A. (5/5)

GT line

"I haven't fished for GT yet but wondered why the loop connection to the backing wasn't beefed up like the line to leader loop."

John G. (5/5)

Great Line

"Throws big Brushy flies with no problem. Love the kevlar reinforced loop. I still added a mono nail knot but probably didnt have too. Great line."
