Prime weeks are filling quickly, don’t wait until it’s too late to lock in your spot on the Kanektok for 2026.
Along with the king returns, chum salmon were back in force as well, delivering classic, hard-pulling action and reminding us why they remain such a beloved part of this fishery. The trout fishing was outstanding, with eager rainbows smashed mouse patterns and gorged on salmon eggs, offering nonstop excitement whether on foot or from the boat. And while silver salmon numbers were light across much of Alaska this year, the Kanektok once again stood apart. Fresh waves of silvers pushed into the river through the final weeks of the season, providing guests with world-class action right up to the end.
Beyond the fishing, what made 2025 stand out was the team at camp. Many of the guides and crew were new to Alaska West this year, yet they brought a fresh enthusiasm and professionalism that instantly elevated the experience. Their passion for the Kanektok and its fishery was contagious—whether it was a guide coaching a perfect Spey swing, a camp hand making sure waders were dry and ready each morning, or the kitchen crew delivering hearty meals that fueled long days on the water. Guests quickly felt the energy of a team excited to be there, and the result was a season filled not just with great fishing, but with genuine camaraderie and care in every detail of camp life
With such strong fishing and positive reports in 2025, interest in the 2026 season is already running high. Bookings from returning guests are strong, leaving fewer spots available for new anglers. The good news is that the camp rate will remain the same for 2026, making it a perfect time to secure your place.

2025 Alaska West Testimonials:
“We were treated royally.” – DP August 2025
“For a slight reduction in lodge comfort, you gain an incredible fishing resource. We easily caught 30-50 fish per day - Chum Salmon and a few Kings - really amazing fighting fish. It’s not glamping but they have a solid lodge with exceptional service from everyone there. Dean and Mel have built a great culture with the guides - who are all fantastic. You get a different guide each day - what a treat that was to learn from each of them - my fly skills improved a ton. At night they tied flies in the lodge and taught us what they were doing and why. Really great experience and best fishing trip ever!!! “ – GK July 2025
“Great trip, it would be hard to find a better place for catching salmon.” KK – July 2025
