Western Trout

Alberta, Canada - Alpine Rivers Exploratory Trip

Max Salzburg August 08, 2025

Fly Water Travel is excited to announce a special trout fishing exploratory trip targeting wild rainbows, browns, brookies, bull trout, and Westslope cutthroat trout in the seldom fished, semi-alpine region west of Calgary, Alberta.

Alberta, Canada - Alpine Rivers Exploratory

These trips will be sold at a special 2025 rate in hopes of attracting anglers to vet a new program that we anticipate offering in the seasons to come.

Guests will spend two days floating a pristine, lightly pressured freestone river and also enjoy a day of walk and wade fishing on a remote, higher elevation mountain stream. We anticipate the majority of fishing will be done with 5-weight rods, floating lines, and dry flies. The outfitter can provide all needed tackle and flies, including wading equipment.

Guests will stay at the Riverside Chateau, a five-star log mansion featuring spacious guest suites with ensuite bathrooms, luxury linens, and riverfront views. Breakfast and lunch are included, and guests will be shuttled into Bragg Creek to enjoy dinners on the town with their guide.

For those looking to reconnect with the simple pleasures of small water trout fishing without sacrificing creature comforts, this trip should prove to be a winner.
