Bay Flats Lodge - Trip Report

Bay Flats also offers a diverse and expansive menu of hunting experiences as well, making the location the ideal fit for cast and blast enthusiasts. As Bay Flats enters their 26th year of operation, their founder and fly fishing enthusiast Chris Martin has now employed a stable of dedicated fly-fishing guides to focus on their vast and dynamic shallow water redfish fishery on fly. This area hosts an incredible population of fish from 5 - 15lbs with larger specimens certainly possible. I found some fantastic fishing at very close ranges. Often fish were hooked with a sweep of the rod at only 10 feet from the skiff! It's a lesson in close quarters combat and an absolute thrill to watch them flare and eat your offering with determination, nearly at your feet.
