Driving Directions to Speywater

Please find the below driving instructions for getting to Speywater from the Lewiston or Pullman-Moscow airports or en route from the towns of Enterprise or Pendleton.

Driving Directions

Cell phone coverage is spotty and online map instructions are unreliable. Please use the following directions to get to the lodge.  

Note: There is no gas available in Troy, Oregon. Guests should fill up their tanks before leaving Lewiston (or Enterprise if driving from the south). 

Directions to Speywater Lodge from Lewiston Airport (Approx. 1 hour 45 minutes): 

  1. Head West on Burrell Avenue from the airport 
  2. Turn right onto 4th D Street 
  3. Turn left onto Bryden Avenue. Bryden Avenue becomes Bryden Canyon Road which becomes Southway Bridge (Snake River) 
  4. On other side of bridge take WA-129 toward Asotin 
  5. Stay on WA-129 through Asotin and Anatone until you reach the Grande Ronde River and Boggan's Oasis. Note: Boggan’s is located 17 miles downstream of Troy (north) and is in Washington State. 
  6. To continue to Speywater Lodge, turn right just before the bridge on Grande Ronde River Road. Follow the river upstream for 18 miles to Troy, Oregon. 
  7. In Troy you will turn left onto Troy Road 
  8. After passing the Shilo Troy Resort, you will cross the Wenaha River. Check your mileage when crossing the Wenaha. 
  9. Be sure to stay to the left to stay on Troy Road. Do not take the right (uphill) turn on Eden Lane. 
  10. Turn left into Speywater Lodge, ½ mile after crossing the Wenaha River. There is a sign for the lodge.

Directions to Speywater Lodge from Pullman-Moscow Airport (Approx. 2 ½ hours): 

  1. Head South on Airport Road 
  2. Turn left onto Terre View Drive 
  3. Turn right onto E Main Street 
  4. Turn left onto Bishop Boulevard 
  5. Turn left onto WA-27 S / S Grand Avenue 
  6. Continue onto US-195 S 
  7. Take a slight right onto US-95 S 
  8. Merge onto US-12 W 
  9. Turn right onto 18th Street 
  10. Continue onto Dike Bypass 
  11. Turn right onto Snake River Avenue 
  12. Take the ramp to Clarkston 
  13. Merge onto Southway Bridge 
  14. Take a slight right onto the ramp to 5th Street 
  15. At the traffic circle take the third exit onto 5th Street 
  16. Continue to follow WA-129 S 
  17. Stay on WA-129 through Asotin and Anatone until you reach the Grande Ronde River and 
  18. Boggan's Oasis. Note: Boggan’s is located 17 miles downstream of Troy (north) and is in Washington State. 
  19. To continue to Speywater Lodge, turn right just before the bridge on Grande Ronde River Road. Follow the river upstream for 18 miles to Troy, Oregon 
  20. In Troy you will turn left onto Troy Road. 
  21. After passing the Shilo Troy Resort, you will cross the Wenaha River. Check your mileage when crossing the Wenaha. (Directions continued below) 
  22. Be sure to stay to the left to stay on Troy Road. Do not take the right (uphill) turn on Eden Lane. 
  23. Turn left into Speywater Lodge, ½ mile after crossing the Wenaha River. There is a sign for the lodge. 

 Directions to Speywater Lodge from Enterprise, OR (Approx. 1 hour 10 minutes): 

  1. Drive north on OR – 3 N / Lewiston Highway 
  2. When you cross into Washington the road becomes WA – 129 N 
  3. After crossing the Grande Ronde River, turn left onto Grande Ronde Road. 
  4. Follow the river upstream for 18 miles to Troy, Oregon 
  5. In Troy you will turn left onto Troy Road 
  6. After passing the Shilo Troy Resort, you will cross the Wenaha River. Check your mileage when crossing the Wenaha. 
  7. Be sure to stay to the left to stay on Troy Road. Do not take the right (uphill) turn on Eden Lane. 
  8. Turn left into Speywater Lodge, ½ mile after crossing the Wenaha River. There is a sign for the lodge.  

Directions to Speywater Lodge from Pendelton, OR (Approx. 3 hours 10 minutes): 

  1. Drive North on OR – 11 N for 20.3 miles 
  2. Take the OR-204 exit toward Weston/Elgin 
  3. Turn left onto OR – 204 E for 41.4 miles 
  4. Turn left onto N 8th Ave 
  5. Turn right onto OR-82 E/Albany St for 23.5 miles 
  6. Turn left onto Doughtery Loop and follow it for 0.5 miles. NOTE: once you turn on Dougherty, the next 30 or so miles is all on dirt roads, away from homes and very remote.  
  7. Turn left at the 1st cross street onto Promise Road and follow it for 16.9 miles 
  8. Turn right onto Wallupa Rd for 12.9 miles 
  9. Continue onto Troy Rd for 6.9 miles. Speywater Lodge will be on your right.

She has spent most of her adult life fishing across Colorado, Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah, while working behind the scenes with top lodges and outfitters to help their guests get the most out of their time on the water. An accomplished creative, Kat’s photography and writing have been featured in The Drake and other notable publications. While she is well-versed in all forms of fresh and saltwater fly fishing, she is first and foremost a two-handed steelhead angler. Her experience includes countless weeks on the Olympic Peninsula, the Snake and Clearwater rivers, and many of British Columbia's fabled waters. Additionally, Kat is a skilled rower and fly tier, and holds certifications in Swiftwater Rescue and Wilderness First Aid.
