The East Ranga is one of Iceland's most sought-after rivers, is renowned for its high numbers of large fish, and is especially well suited to anglers that know and love steelhead fishing.
It is best fished with two-handed rods.
It is cold so steelhead anglers who know how to fish sink tips and slow the fly down, do very well.
It is well suited to anglers who can effectively cover water with a traditional step, swing approach.
East Ranga fish tend to be large by Icelandic standards, with most weighing 8- to 15-pounds.
Of Iceland's top 40 rivers, the East Ranga typically ranks in the top two in terms of the most fish landed. Most years more than 2500 fish are landed by guests.
It is known for being exceedingly stable and holding its flows during storms.
