South Island Independent Guide Tour
Max Salzburg May 31, 2023
For some traveling anglers, great angling adventures don't require mints on the pillows, heated towel racks, or world-class chefs. What really matters are top-shelf guides, a comfortable bed, and a hot shower. For those that are as happy dining in pubs and local bakeries as they are at five-star restaurants and lodges, and do not need the amenities provided by full service lodges there are options.
The biggest advantage of fishing with independent guides is that it offers maximum flexibility. It is possible to mix and match guides, fish differing numbers of days in different regions, or take days off while traveling. Below is an 18-day itinerary showcasing a trip from south to north on the South Island. This is not a set itinerary but rather a flexible example of what can be done within our independent guide network.
