Alex Lafkas
At the age of 15, Alex Lafkas began working in fly shops just one year after being introduced to fly fishing. By 21, he was guiding in both Michigan and Montana after splitting time between the two states beginning at age 17 — more than 30 years ago.
Since then, Alex has spent 12 months a year guiding and fishing for trout, winters in Arkansas and the remainder of the year in Northern Michigan. In the early 2000s, he immersed himself in streamer fishing with large flies and hasn’t looked back since.
Spending countless days targeting trout across a wide range of waters — from large southern tailwaters to small Michigan streams — as well as fishing lakes for bass, pike, and musky, has driven Alex to develop several unique patterns. His constant pursuit of fish on streamers has led to innovative designs that combine castability, durability, and proven effectiveness on the water.
