Brita Fordice is RIO's resident fly designer and an industry expert whose career in fly fishing began at The Avid Angler Fly Fishing Outfitters, where she spent over a decade as a shop rat (2004-2016), managing operations, guiding, teaching classes, and hosting travel adventures around the globe.

She joined RIO Products in 2016, initially working in pro/ tech support before being tapped to help develop the Flies program from the ground up alongside Patrick Kilby. Drawing on her experience as a signature fly designer for another major brand, Brita was instrumental in the development of RIO’s Signature Tyer program and has designed more than 70 fly patterns for the company.

Brita’s expertise lies in saltwater fisheries from pole to pole and in crafting large streamers for rivers and lakes. Known for her encyclopedic knowledge of fly-tying materials, she can dissect nearly any fly at a glance. Brita’s true strength lies in her ability to innovate without sacrificing the essential "bugginess" that makes a fly effective.
