Dave Aldous’s passion for fishing started as a child growing up on a lake in New York’s Adirondack State Park, where he could always be found with a rod in his hands and a grin on his face. Besides harassing largemouth bass and northern pike in the lake, his favorite pursuit was sight fishing for brook trout in the area’s intimate, shallow streams.

Years later, striped bass fishing stole his heart, and the lower Chesapeake Bay area became a primary fishing focus – immediately followed by a desire to chase pretty much any-and-all saltwater species.

“Some great friends introduced me to saltwater fly fishing and tying,” Dave says. “Ever since then I’ve been obsessed with developing and modifying flies to maximize anglers’ chances at catching trophy fish. It’s truly an honor to partner with RIO and offer you flies born of extensive field testing and with a proven history of catching fish."
