POWERFUL COMPACT SKAGIT HEAD FOR LOADING, FIRING AND ACCURATELY FISHING HEAVIER RIGS ACROSS EVERCHANGING STEELHEADING CONDITIONS.

The Skagit Timberline is an 18-foot shooting head that brings effortless performance to your coastal steelhead program. The compact design makes shorter two-handed rods sing when casting space is limited. Because of its heavily rear-loaded and progressively tapering design, it easily handles the heaviest T-tips, while still delivering a full range of marabous and modern steelhead flies with controlled loop precision.

  • Compact 18-foot head generates close-range to far-reaching power, even in tight-cover casting scenarios
  • Rear-loaded, progressively tapering design handles the heaviest T-tips with ease
  • Select grain weights synced for shorter two-handed rods in the 11- to 13-foot range

Skagit Timberline 8wt

"This head needs a Stewardess, it Flies! Works great for my 13. 5 T-17 sink tip. It's shorter length helps get my fly in position for first step of all Spey casts. I understand it's stealthy color but it can be hard to find in some outdoor lighting conditions. I'm adapting! Thanks RIO!!!"

Perfect for compact spey

"Got this line in 540 gr for my 12’ 8wt for winter steelhead. Loads the rod with almost no reliance on sweep momentum. The rod is rated for 510-540 and the heavier end performs much better. Very easy to shoot darts with a very slim D loop, so its easy to throw big flies wading deep or up against a wall. In calmer water there is a bit of a splash."
