Overview

RIO's Leviathan lines have been specifically designed for the largest of tropical species. Each line features a powerful front taper to cast the biggest of flies, a short, heavy head to load bluewater rods, and a hard, tropical coating to prevent the line from wilting in the heat. The line has a 26ft, fast-sinking head seamlessly integrated into an intermediate running line. In addition, a tough, ultra-strong core ensures the line will easily battle large fish being cut on coral and rock structures.

Awesome line, easy to cast.

"Awesome line, easy to cast. Only thing I would change is the colour of it, wish most of them would be different blue tones, light grey and white to blend better with the deep blue"

This line loads fast and

"This line loads fast and is the best on the market to tackle fish Offshore!"

Tropical Series Leviathan

"During our summer months in North Queensland, Australia, when the water temperature increases in the shallows, Barramundi move out to deeper water and sit in the thermoclines, usually around 15-25 feet. The Rio Tropical series fly lines get the fly down into the zone quickly. Designed to cast large, heavy flies, with very slick casting performance, they are my choice for any large tropical species in deeper water."

Why I Keep Reaching for the Rio Outbound Short in Baja

"The Rio Outbound Short is hands down one of my favorite fly lines for fishing down here in Baja. I really like the way these lines cast — they load quick, shoot smooth, and just make it easy to get your fly out there, even when the wind kicks up or you’re throwing bigger patterns. They fish just as well as they cast. That aggressive taper helps turn over bigger flies without a lot of effort, which is exactly what you need when chasing roosters, jacks, or even the early season dorado. Whether I’m on the beach or the boat, these lines just get the job done. If you’re looking for a reliable, hard-working line that performs in salt and holds up to Baja conditions, the Outbound Short is tough to beat."

Been using this line for

"Been using this line for musky for the last 7 years. I have yet to find a better single hand casting line on the market. The addition of the welded loops on both ends is a huge bonus now."

My #1 Choice for Big

"My #1 Choice for Big Costa Rica Tarpon for the past 10 years"

Just got back from Guatemala

"Just got back from Guatemala and although we didn’t have too far of casts to make the line held up well against 9 pacific sailfish!"

My go to line for tarpon!

"I only had a 9 weight rod and matched it with the 300 grain Leviathan. It casts very easy, just bring the entire sinking head out the rod's top guide and then SHOOOOOT. I fished in heavy winds and could still get almost the entire line slightly across the wind. I have now bought the 10/11 weight line for a new rod. Those tarpons are in trouble!"

Leviathan for big Tarpon

"Fishing for giant Tarpon in Costa Rica, the Leviathan behaves like a line with a lot of resistance for fierce fights. A great line to look for big species like Tarpon, Jack and GT. On my last trip I used 500, 600 and 750 grains, achieving large Tarpon in the depths of the Atlantic, near the Colorado River."

Haven’t had a chance to

"Haven’t had a chance to cast the line yet but it looks to be the usual great quality that I have become accustomed to from rio."
