Overview

RIO's LightLine double taper has been designed to load slower, more traditional action fly rods such as bamboo, glass and the more Classic flexing graphite rods. Built to precisely match the industry line standards, this line will not overload such rods — even at longer range. The weight distribution and short front taper ensures the line loads at close range, making it ideal for fishing on smaller creeks and streams, while the softer, supple coating ensures the line remains relaxed and easy to handle in the majority of conditions. In addition the line is built with SlickCast—the slickest, most durable coating on the market.

Note: There are no welded loops, no EasyID and no MaxFloat tip on sizes 000,00 & 0

Overall rating: 4.875 / 5 from 16 reviews.

Was seeking a true-to-weight double

"Was seeking a true-to-weight double taper line for delicate dry fly presentations in low-water conditions. Works well for short to mid distance casts on small streams."

DT line

"I use the double taper line on the Strike II as a nymphing line. It works well."

Jim G. (5/5)

Excellent Product

"I used this this line on a recent trip to a mountain stream. It presents perfectly out of my glass 3-weight. I cast furled leaders on drys and and mono leaders for dropper rigs and found that this package is excellent for delicate presentations and is very capable at delivering precise casts on small, technical water."

Booking manager Freestone Fly Sjop

"Casts very nicely on both, a 7' cane for a #4 and a a 7' glass rod for a #4"

This has been my favorite

"This has been my favorite fly line for a few years now,,,,in Double Taper 3, 4 & 5."

Bob G. (5/5)

Under rated

"In my opinion, this is Rio's most under rated trout line. This line is marketed for the slower action graphite, fiberglass and bamboo rods, but it also performs surprisingly well with medium/fast action rods, especially older model rods in the smaller line weights. It is an excellent performer paired with my 7' 10" Sage TXL 3 weight. Much better than the Rio LT line that I had been using previously. Sage's Quiet DT fly line is of course no longer available."

Steve C. (5/5)

Spot On Rio Recommendation

"Have used the DT4F for a few years on my Sage Circa 7'9" 4wt rod. Loads easily and casts very well. Rio's recommendation to use with slower action rods is spot on."
