RIO's Metered shooting line is the ultimate shooting line; packed with features that result in long casts, greater hookups and more efficient fishing. The low stretch core provides enhanced detection of takes, more positive hook sets, and far greater control when playing a fish. In addition, the line features RIO's RangeFinder system, with a color change every 10ft making it easy for anglers to gauge how far each cast is, and consistently fish through a pool. A short front taper stabilizes the cast and ensures maximum distance and flight time, while large welded loops on each end allow for fast rigging changes. In addition, this line is built with SlickCast, creating the slickest, most durable coating on the market—producing the least amount of friction ever measured in a fly line.

Frays right away

"I've gone through two of these, the regular as well as the metered. Both frayed within the span of 6-8 uses, on different rods. My local fly shop covered the return of the non metered. I decided to then try the metered and reached out to FB customer service, which has not responded. This is terrible shooting line, especially for $65. Plus, shoddy customer service. And, I have thousands of $ invested in FB products (the vast majority are great) but I do think their service, or lack of, is disappointing."

Superior shooting line

"The shooting head/running line connection is fairly compact, it goes through the guides better than any of my other line combos. I really like the metered aspect of the running line as well, it’s nice to know how long that cast actually was. I bought the . 037, next time I will get the . 042. Line handling is more important than maximum distance for my application."
