Overview

The Skagit Leader is the ultimate tapered leader for delivering big, heavy flies typically used with skagit shooting head systems. Its short overall length and abrupt taper give this leader the most powerful turnover possible so none of the energy generated during the cast is sacrificed in the final few feet. While leaders of level tippet are commonly used with skagit heads, the hinging effect they generate hampers tuornover of bulky patterns. The Skagit Leader eliminates this effect for the smoothest delivery of the heaviest flies out there.

"Got 2 12# leaders from my local shop to give them a try. 1 was only .006 dia. tippet & the other was .012 dia. Also, the 12# .012 doesn't coincide to any tippet material I see listed in any Rio tippet! Contacted Rio on Facebook about the .006 leader & sent photo to back up the measurement & was treated like a fool. Many of the Steelhead/Salmon leaders I've gotten also have had tippet measurements smaller than the listed size on the packaging. Am also disappointed that since the combining of the Far Bank companies to 1 web site, Spey Central is no longer a way to referance line reconamations."
