So Good I Bought Two
"I was looking to add a couple of new rods to my client quiver for targeting Upper Mississippi River smallmouth bass, and the 890 Big Game has been an outstanding addition. The rod is extremely lightweight and fast, but not a broomstick—which makes it especially forgiving and effective for less experienced clients. The first day I fished it, I was targeting pre-spawn smallmouth and immediately noticed how well it cast with a Rio Predator Intermediate line. It produced tight loops, excellent line speed, and impressive accuracy at distance. We were throwing fairly large flies—weighted patterns, leggy boi’s, and Game Changers—and the rod handled them with ease. At the same time, it performed just as well with smaller flies like leech patterns and woolly buggers, showing a great deal of versatility. After just one day on the water with this rod, I bought a second one. I’ve been fishing both Sage and Redington rods out of my boat for over a decade, and this is, without a doubt, the best Redington rod I’ve ever fished."
