Great rod

"The rod casts great. The case is great. The reel feels a little flimsy. If you just want a line holder, it’ll do. Out of the box, I had to use pliers to get the drag dial to turn, but it broke free with a little encouragement. I’m nervous about the drag if I need to play a fish on the reel. If it proves to be insufficient, I’ll replace the reel with a Lamson and still feel like this package was a good deal."

Quality + Reasonable Price = Value

"Quality rig at a reasonable price. For just a couple of hundred bucks more, you can have a rig that will last a lifetime, not a season."

Converting from trout to bass fly fishing.

"Perfect for what I need it for. I was a trout fly fisherman until I relocated in 2013. As there aren’t many decent trout fisheries here, I fished with conventional gear mostly for bass. When I recently decided to begin fly fishing for bass, I knew I needed a heavier outfit, and after considerable research, this 7wt outfit looked like the best choice for kayak fishing which is mostly what I do. I have two Sage trout rods, but a Sage bass equivalent was just too expensive to make this switch. This Redington outfit is just fine for my particular application."

The Field Kit

"This is something I picked up as a teaching aid. I really like the action and power of this rod. The mid-fast action is forgiving enough for those just starting out but seems to be able to handle a wide range of casting techniques and fish"
