"I originally bought this kit because I have siblings on both the Pacific and Atlantic coasts of Canada, and it is perfect for the salmon runs in both places, but I've taken it out the last few years in my local Ontario waters when the salmon and steelhead are running and it is a perfect rod for the purpose! In the past I had used my 6 weight for steelhead, and it was effective but challenging, and when on the odd occasion I hooked into a large Chinook salmon I had to protect the rod. Now, it doesn't matter what hits my line, this kit will handle it."
