Overview

Grosvenor Lodge is a small, remote lodge located in Katmai National Park on the narrows between Grosvenor and Colville Lakes. Originally built in the 1950s, this intimate fishing operation takes a maximum of four to six anglers. For anglers interested in a remote, semi do-it-yourself operation with simple meals and accommodations, few locations or operations compare to this Alaskan classic. From this base, several small tributaries of Colville Lake and Grosvenor Lake are accessed via jet boat and fished in a walk and wade fashion. Additionally, the lodge has one of only a few permits to access the Lower American via jetboat. Guests can also add daily fly-out trips upon request.

Fishing Program

Grosvenor Lodges remote location is rarely visited by other anglers enabling their guests seemingly private access to the narrows as well as several key tributaries of their lakes. These tributaries experience huge annual sockeye salmon returns, making them exceptional systems for rainbow trout keen on bulking up for the long winters. The early season smolt migration offers great action on streamers, especially in the narrows in front of the lodge. Additionally, the lower ends of the feeder streams offer great early season fishing for rainbows as they intercept salmon fry migrating to the lakes. Once the adult sockeyes begin to spawn in August, the egg fishing kicks into high gear and lasts well into September. The lodge only has one guide. The guide will typically motor the group to the tributary of choice and then guests will leap-frog each other up the stream for the day. In the early season, guests can also elect to fish the narrows on their own while the others head out with the guide. Accordingly, this program is best suited to independent anglers. Guests can also arrange fly-outs to some of the region's best rivers including Kulik, Moraine, Funnel and Brooks.

Accommodations

Grosvenor is a small, remote, and rustic lodge ideal for families and small groups. The lodge limits its weeks to four guests or private parties of six. Guests are accommodated in three double-occupancy guest cabins outfitted with heaters and electricity. A shared bathhouse is located near the cabins. The kitchen and dining area feature a great view of Grosvenor Lake. All meals are prepared by the camp chef and are hearty, simple, and diverse. Breakfast and dinner are served in the main dining area and lunches are packed for full days on the water. The small main lodge building includes a lounge area and bar, where complimentary cocktails are served each evening. The entire staff is comprised of the chef and the guide.
