Ascension Bay is only 90 miles south of Cancun, Mexico, and offers endless crystal-clear flats, mangrove lagoons, channels, and reefs where bonefish, permit, tarpon, snook, barracuda, and jacks reside. Located within the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, Pesca Maya Lodge offers year-round fly fishing possibilities. Tarpon season runs from April through October and the snook season runs from November through March. Pairs of anglers access the fishing areas in traditional Mexican Pangas with two guides on every boat - one senior guide and one junior guide. The guides speak English to varying-degrees, but all are competent in basic fishing instruction. While most of the fly fishing is done from the boat there are also opportunities to wade fish for bonefish and permit.

Pesca Maya is a comfortable and casual operation, based out of Casa Celeste, located on the ocean side. Casa Celeste can accommodate up to 8 guests with 4 rooms. All the rooms have air conditioning and have either private or shared bathrooms. There is also a furnished, ocean-front room that is optimal for enjoying appetizers and cocktails.

Breakfasts are served buffet-style and feature fresh fruits, eggs, and pancakes. Anglers take a boxed lunch with them for the day and non-anglers can enjoy a traditional Mexican lunch at the lodge. The dinner menu changes daily and includes a variety of soups and salads, fresh seafood, steaks, and chicken. Soda, beer, wine, and domestic liquors are included; guests can bring their own imported spirits if they choose.
