Saying goodbye to spring with a little carousel of my favorite moments. Here are my hopes for the summer: Find solitude in the Montana mountains. Have my fly rod in my hand most days. Find the places where the stars shine the brightest. Slowly prepare for the big things while enjoying the moments of stillness & freedom that this lifestyle can provide. Happy summer everyone… it’s hot as hell here ☀️ #vanlife #nomadlife #morels #womenwhofish #outdoors #optoutside #redingtonsquad #backpacking #camping #womenwhoexplore #flyfishing #fulltimetravel #tinyliving #tinyhomeonwheels #adventureways #vanlifewithdogs

I don’t know if there’s some kind of “science” behind this claim but it seems the prettiest rivers and streams always have the prettiest trout. Maybe it’s the water? The diet? Or just good genetics? Or maybe it’s cause the prettiest streams are the ones that hold wild trout far away from urban development….just a thought 🤷‍♂️ hooke redingtongear rioproducts

paytonh31 And just like that 🫰🏼✨ It has begun! My first Great Lakes steelhead of the season 🙌🏼 and I can definitely say it started out on a good note! This fish was a beast to get in but I managed to net her in some slower water. The water in these tributaries is still pretty warm so getting these fish back quick is really important. I snapped a quick set of photos and let her back so hopefully someone else can hook up with this chunker. Cheers and happy fishing everybody 🍻 #greatlakes #greatlakesfishing #steelhead #rainbowtrout #trout #flyfishing #onthefly #womenofflyfishing #streamerfishing #chrome #ladyangler #redingtongear #redingtonsquad #outdoors #steelheadmanifesto #troutofinsta #troutporn

A cool photo can make even hatchery brats look good… While these fish are not something I am ever really targeting, they do provide provide anglers with a fun recreational fishing opportunity. Most Rainbow Trout stocked in western non native streams are altered during the hatchery spawning process to become triploid (infertile, unable to reproduce). This does not mean Rainbow Trout have no impact on native species when their distribution overlaps, the fish still compete for food and habitat. With the sterile fish unable to spawn, their lack of focus on reproduction is said to allow for faster growth giving them a competitive edge over native fish. Over the past few decades, the widespread release of hatchery-produced trout has been considered a conservation threat in addition to its use as a resource management tool. Rainbow trout are native to the Pacific drainages of North America, ranging from Alaska to Mexico. Since 1874 they have been introduced to streams in all continents except Antarctica. While several local domesticated strains have developed like the Shasta and Kamloops, others have been been created through mass selection and cross-breeding for improved cultural qualities which has lead some to dub these hatchery Rainbow Trout as an entirely synthetic fish. 📸: gypsywifelife #anentirelysyntheticfish #redingtonsquad
