SWINGING FLIES FOR TROUT

The down-and-across presentation is an incredibly effective way to target trout, and there’s no more efficient way to fish that technique than with a two-handed rod. Designed with a full-sized-spey rod feel and action, slimmed down to an appropriate size for your favorite trout water, the TROUT SPEY HD is ready to change your swing game whether you’re throwing small soft hackles or big streamers.

TAILORED TO THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS IN LINES

With the "Spey Craze" in full "swing," the recent advancement in Spey lines has called for an upgrade in two-handed rod performance. The TROUT SPEY HD follows suit and is designed to handle all of today’s modern Skagit & Scandi heads, and appropriate sinking tips and leaders.

EASE OF CASTING STREAMERS

Throwing streamers all day with a single-hand rod can be particularly fatiguing on the shoulder. The TROUT SPEY HD eliminates this fatigue completely when paired with an appropriate Skagit head and two-handed cast. Streamer water that once tuckered you out is now one of your favorite playgrounds.

MADE IN USA

At Sage, craftsmanship is our people. We’re not a big faceless factory, but rather a workplace of craftspeople who design and build the world’s best fly rods and reels using our hands and hearts. We do it by sharing ideas and always asking the next question to find what can be done to make this better. Our rods are built one at time right here on Bainbridge Island, WA, following hundreds of meticulous steps and passing through 23 sets of hands. Our reels are also designed right here, and then precision-crafted with exclusive USA carbon to tolerance only Sage can deliver. We’re out there fishing the same places in the same unforgiving conditions that you are. Craftsmanship is applied experience. Lifetimes of it.

"I have not used this rod yet but could not be more excited about it. Trout spey is new to me. The finish on this rod could not be prettier. Great colors on both blank and thread wraps with perfect cork. As always, the service was great and very fast. Thank you for FarBank for another great product."

HD Trout Spey 5116-4

"Without a doubt the most versatile two hand rod I own. It will punch a steamer through 25 mph winds to smallmouth bass on the Columbia River all day long. Put on a floating tip and you’ve got a bass popper rocket launcher! Swinging scuplins along the bottom of the river for big trout or cast a salmon fly to places other anglers simply can’t reach. I like the Rio integrated max power line in the 375 grain paired with the light MOW tips , specifically any of the T-8 combinations. The light floating MOW tip will turn over bass poppers and unlock a whole new way to approach bass fishing! For smaller flies , that don’t need the mass of the MOW tips to turn them over, the 10’ heavy Versileaders match up well. The floating Versi Tip is great for casting big dries like salmon flies and skating surface flies at dusk. The slow sink tip is perfect for swinging wooly bugger type flies. Simply put, this rod is an extremely versatile tool that has got me thinking outside the box and allowed me to be creative in my fishing. Thank you Sage !!"

Enjoyable

"An enjoyable rod. Fun to cast while working well with small streamers and soft hackles. Handled a Missouri River 20” rainbow nicely."

— Ken K. (5/5)

1 Wt. Perfect for medium sized trout streams!

"Great rod! So happy with purchase, had been fishing a 300 grain wt. scandi setup for trout in Vermont over the past two years. This easily throws a 150 grain line, lightly, and on target with very minimal if no splash at all. Great rod, throwing dries with a two handed rod is possible!"

— Clay L. (5/5)

Fabulous Rod

"This is my second Trout Spey HD rod and I absolutely love this rod. This rod works well for the applications that I use. Expectations need to be dialed back a bit because it is not a big water rod but works great on the smaller fish that I am targeting. I would definitely recommend this rod."

Trout Spey Swing Stick
