"I took my new Sage rod and reel combo out for the first time for a couple days of fishing. It turned out to be 2 epic days of fishing. 15 Rainbows with nothing under 3 pounds and 3 over 5 pounds. The 5wt fished flawlessly. It worked better than I ever imagined it would. I mainly threw streamers and it casted wonderfully. I highly recommend this combo!"

Incredible Rod

"This rod is outstanding. It’s power, accuracy, and finesse are unparalleled in the industry for a mid priced rod. I have a couple Orvis Recons and this rod makes the Recon feel like a Walmart rod. This rod has a ton of reserve power and feels like after each cast the rod says “MORE”. I’ve fished this on Rio gold line and the Elite gold Max and I can’t speak highly enough of this one. Roll casts well, works hard at distance with tons of feel, and has power to lift heavy fish Great job SAGE for designing an amazing outfit."

OUSTANDING SAGE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE AT AN AFFORDABLE PRICE

"Being in the Fly Fishing Industry for decades as a professional guide, instructor, and retail shop employee, the SAGE brand has always been an absolute favorite of mine. Their high end and mid priced rods have always been one of the top leaders of the industry. The only disappointment that I had with this company's rods in the past, were the so called "Entry Level" rod series. They just seemed to miss something in performance. Then in 2017 at the IFTD Show, SAGE introduced the Foundation Rod Series constructed with Graphite III e as their entry level fly rods. These rods had a completely different look with the stealthy matte black blank finish to the quality cork snub nosed half wells grip and a black anodized machined reel seat instead of a poorer grade wood reel seat and hardware. On casting the rod, I couldn't believe the performance, The rod is fast action but has feel. It easily casts short extremely well and has no problem firing out a 60 foot cast and the rod is light in the hand. Accuracy is on the money. I purchased the Foundation Outfit as this has all top quality components unlike a lot of "boxed" outfits on the market. Naturally the rod is outstanding Made in the USA SAGE quality, it's matched with the never fail SAGE Spectrum C ultra large arbor reel equipped with the powerful Spectrum SDS drag system and numbered one revolution drag knob, RIO 20 Pound Backing and a $100. 00 RIO Gold Fly Line matched to the particular rod. The performance of this outfit is stellar and I would rate it as an all abilities outfit that is perfect for a beginner as they can grow into it and not feel they have to upgrade as they improve into an intermediate fly angler. It's also a great backup or go to outfit for advanced anglers or anglers on a budget that want to own SAGE quality and performance. Enough said."
