Alaskan Salmon Rigs

No matter which coastal salmon highway you find yourself on, we designed each rig to stand up to superior fish. We thought it through from leader, line, to fly, so you don't have to think twice about your next salmon fishing trip.

Andronomous Super Highway

Fly fishing for salmon in the last frontier is a bucket list mission that every fly angler should experience. Whether targeting early Chinook runs, summer Sockeye or even late-season Trout bulked up on eggs, a stout line, leader, and tippet are essential. Our AK Salmon rig will set you up to entice an aggravated grab from our anadromous friends on their way back to their birthplace.

Elite RIO Grand

The Elite RIO Grand is a full line size heavier than the industry standard. It features more weight distributed towards the front of the line to easily load heavier salmon rigs and accurately command heavier streamers. This line is built with RIO's low-stretch ConnectCore Plus and coated with SlickCast, resulting in exceptionally smooth, durable fly lines.

Medium VersiLeader & Steelhead/Salmon Tippet

VersiLeaders allow the user to quickly adjust fishing depth without changing fly lines. Depending on conditions, selecting the appropriate Versileader will bring your flies down to the right depth to target migrating salmon. Combined with our Salmon/Steelhead tippet, this rig is ready for any salmon species you may encounter.

Flies

Most salmon fishing is done with bright streamers to entice an ornery grab. However, no trip to AK is complete without trying your hands at mousing for salmon-sized trout or Grayling with RIO's Pip Squeak.
